Description

Are you a tool nerd? Fan of history? Want to learn how to fashion timber through the artful dexterity of unassisted hands? If you answered yes to any of that, you may fit right in! This class focuses on the tools we use to get the job done the old fashioned way: our hands. We will use and talk about saws, chisels, various hand planes, braces and bits and much more! We will also check out techniques on work holding; critical to proper and enjoyable hand work. And if you have been wondering how to sharpen that dull chisel or plane iron you bought from that Civil War reenactor on Craigslist, well we tackle that too! This full day class will be rich with information. You will be practicing using these tools with proper form and technique. Because knowing your tools keeps you from becoming one!
